The most formal evening dress code for a wedding is white tie, also referred to as full dress.

Nights at the opera and dinner with dignitaries are occasions when this incredibly formal dress code may apply.

For men, this consists of a black tailcoat jacket, a white waistcoat (vest), a wing-tip collar dress shirt with studs and cufflinks, and a white bow tie.
