When two (2) couples agree to host a joint wedding ceremony and/or wedding reception, this is known as a double wedding.

This typically occurs when siblings – for example, two sisters – close relatives or close friends are both engaged and decide that one (1) joint celebration makes more sense than hosting two (2) separate events.
