In the United States, following the wedding rehearsal (usually the night before the wedding), a rehearsal dinner is a popular pre-wedding celebration.

The wedding party, close family and friends and out-of-town wedding guests usually attend.

During the rehearsal dinner, the couple thanks their wedding party members and may distribute gifts and a few toasts are made.

Traditionally, the groom's family would host this event, but, today both sets of parents may split the bill, or, many couples organize and pay for the event themselves.
