Sent before the official wedding invitation, a save-the-date announces an upcoming wedding date and asks that the recipient, hold or reserve the mentioned date on their calendar.

Save-the-dates allow for lots of creativity and have become rather popular in recent years.

Save-the-Date Pros

Sending your guests a wedding save-the-date:

  • Does double-duty as an engagement announcement
  • Allows out-of-towners enough time to make travel reservations (and request time off)
  • Makes a really nice wedding keepsake
