A place card is a small card positioned at a specific seat at each guest table and includes the guest name.

Place cards are used at the most formal wedding receptions. For less formal weddings,  place cards are used at the head table, only.

The term ‘place card' is sometimes confused with the term ‘escort card' (a card that assigns a table…not a seat).
