for example, 10 years and older<\/li>\n<li>Invite kids to attend the wedding ceremony and cocktail hour, only.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>How to Let Wedding Guests know Kids are NOT Invited<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Only include the full names of invited guests on the wedding invitations<\/li>\n<li>Get close family and friends to spread the word<\/li>\n<li>Say\u00a0 so on the save-the-date and on the couples wedding website<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Keep in mind that traditionally (i.e.the wedding etiquette police say), the wedding invitation is <em>not<\/em> the place to announce that children are not welcome &#8212; although I&#8217;ve seen the term &#8216;adult-only reception&#8217; used on a couple of wedding invitations that I&#8217;ve received.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A few Tried-and-True Tips for Managing Children at Weddings<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For the cutest bridal party members &#8212; the flower girl(s) and the ring bearer &#8212; have them practice, practice, practice.\u00a0 Make sure they&#8217;re a part of the wedding rehearsal.\u00a0 But before then, encourage their parents to coach them at home.<\/li>\n<li>Position parents of the flower girl and\/or ring bearer upfront, close to the altar so they can coax a reluctant Johnny or Julia to head on down the aisle as planned.<\/li>\n<li>If you can, arrange to have the photographer take photos of the youngest bridal party members taken <em>before<\/em> the ceremony, if possible.<\/li>\n<li>For the wedding ceremony, direct families with young children to sit toward the rear of the wedding ceremony and close to the aisle so they can make a quick exit, if necessary, with the least amount of interruption.<\/li>\n<li>It&#8217;s probably best to attach fake wedding rings on the ring bearer pillow.<\/li>\n<li>Don&#8217;t expect young children in the bridal party\u00a0 to stand throughout the entire wedding ceremony.\u00a0 Be sure to reserve seating for them at the front, ideally with their parents.<\/li>\n<li>Help your clients plan a kid-friendly menu with the caterer.\u00a0 Simple food like chicken nuggets, mac &#8216;n cheese, is best and costs less<\/li>\n<li>At the wedding reception, seat kids together and maybe hire a local sitter to oversee the table.\u00a0 You can hire the sitter and promote (and charge for) this as an additional service of your wedding planning company or have your clients contract with a sitter directly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Wedding Activity Packs and Treat Bags for Children at Weddings<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.orientaltrading.com\/filled-wedding-treat-boxes-a2-70_3924-11-1.fltr?xsaleSku=3\/1178http:\/\/\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-3345\" src=\"http:\/\/confettitalkshow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/wedding-treat-boxes.jpg\" alt=\"wedding treat boxes\" width=\"225\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>A package of goodies for children at weddings is a great idea.\u00a0 If you choose to, you can do this as an added service and bill your clients for each package you create.<\/p>\n<p>Picture books, sugar-free lollipops, finger puppets, crayons (I wouldn&#8217;t suggest handing out crayons during the wedding ceremony, though.
